I've received several questions from students about how to either find profitable niche markets or how to decide what sort of products they should either create or source affiliate programs for.

Which got me thinking. I'm also in the process of monetizing the Hobby site with affiliate programs and products instead of Adsense, so I thought I'd do some research and find out what people are actually looking for...

After about 3 days of root keyword research, I came up with a list of over 10,000 keyword phrases that people are typing into search engines when they have a problem to solve. You'll remember from the 4 Keys videos that finding and solving a problem for a starving crowd is where the money's at, so that's where you should be looking.

So, what is a 'root keyword'?

The best way to answer that is to give you some additional examples.
